The Coupé version of the Mini Cooper has been nipped and tucked in all the right places. To improve airflow at high speed, the Coupé is the first model in the Mini family to feature an active rear spoiler. The exciting thing about the spoiler is that it automatically pops up when you drive over the 80km/h mark.
The Coupé’s range of colours includes a wide variety of bold solid colours and metallic options with striking contrast elements (roof, mirror caps and bonnet stripes are available as options). With a long list of accessories, you can custom design your Coupé to suit your style.
According to Lindsay Pieters, Group Lifestyle Communications Manager at BMW SA, the Coupé will be available in the standard coupe, the Cooper S Coupé and the powerful John Cooper Works Coupé.
The Coupé comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission. An optional automatic transmission with steptronic comes with shift paddles on the steering wheel, which can be operated with both hands on the wheel for faster, safer gear changes.
Engine stats for the standard Coupé:
Engine output: 90kW at 6 000 rpm.
Max torque: 160Nm at 4 250 rpm.
Acceleration: 0-100 km/h in 9,0 seconds.
Top speed: 204km/h.
Average fuel consumption: 5,4 litres per 100 kilometres.
Pieters says the Coupé will be available in November.
