Let’s face it, the multiple end-of-year deadlines can be very ageing, especially if one’s been drinking too much coffee or alcohol, and smoking too many cigarettes.

So a little product assistance is much appreciated ahead of the festive season and Shiseido’s Bio Performance Super Corrective Eye Cream could not have arrived at a better time.

The Japanese company’s products ain’t cheap and come with promises of high performance, so my expectations were high. I had recently also used the Shiseido Men Total Revitalizer Eye product and was pleased with the results.

According to the marketing blurb, “this time-fighting eye cream counteracts the tired look that appears with age around the eyes. Youthful vitality is restored, as eye contours look lifted, wrinkles are visibly reduced and dark circles appear minimised. It’s formulated with Bio-Defining Complex to increase production of hyaluronic acid – the key to maintaining firm eye contours.”

Impressive stuff. But does it deliver on its promises?

I’ve been using this product for a few weeks now and can attest to its effectiveness in helping to fight the tired-eye look. Best applied at bedtime, the cream is easily absorbed and is not too heavily fragranced.

So a thumbs-up and surgery-free eye lift for me.

Price: R980 for 15ml.

PS: While this is officially a women’s product, I happen to be one of those men who feels no shame in using women’s products if they are fuss-free and do the trick.

Confession time, men. Do you use any of your partner’s beauty products? If so, which ones?
