Months after leaving the Treasury, Fuzile will make his entry into the private sector, responsible for the South African business unit.
He will report to Group CEO Sim Tshabalala.
“I look forward to joining the team at Standard Bank and to making a meaningful contribution to the success of SBSA and the group as a whole,” he said.
In a statement released on Thursday, Standard Bank said Fuzile was appointed to the position because he brings exceptional skills, human capital and strong leadership to the business.
He is set to join the bank’s group executive and management committees.
“We welcome Mr Fuzile to the group and look forward to working with him in his new role. Mr Fuzile has an outstanding reputation in our industry. He will play a critical role in helping the group to provide consistently excellent service, meet our financial targets and achieve the broup’s purpose: Africa is our home we drive her growth,” Tshabalala said.
Fuzile resigned from the National Treasury shortly after former Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and his deputy Mcebisi Jonas were sacked in April.
