For the next four months, Pick n Pay smart shopper holders will have the chance to earn 20 points (or 20 cents) back for every litre of petrol they fill up their tanks with, provided that they fill up at BP fuel stations.
The launch promotion runs until the end of March, after which consumers will earn 10 smart shopper points per litre of petrol purchased.
Pick n Pay’s Head of Marketing John Bradshaw said the partnership was all about creating better synergy in the partnership and delivering a little extra value to consumers.
“We always look for ways to give our customers the best value we can through their everyday spend. We’ve finally found a way to deliver rewards for fuel purchases and we’re really excited about this new partnership,” he said.
The points earned from petrol purchases will be loaded onto your smart shopper card and at this stage they can only be redeemed at Pick n Pay stores, but the retailer says plans are afoot to develop technology to enable reward points to be spent at BP as well.
The partnership will come as a relief to consumers who in recent months have been burdened with regular petrol price hikes this year.
