Khwinana was murdered last Friday night during an apparent robbery, while waiting for transport in Arcadia, Pretoria
Makhura and MEC for Community Safety Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane visited Khwinana’s family at their home in Soshanguve on Thursday and updated the family on the investigation.
Makhura told the family that police are currently looking for the suspects.
The 25-year-old rising star from Soshanguve Block M was fatally stabbed in the chest by the robbers, who took his cellphone.
They stabbed him when he tried to fight back. He was with his friend Tebatso Mashishi, who stars alongside him in the hit film Matwetwe.
Makhura condemned the senseless killing and urged police to work hard in making sure the perpetrators were brought to book.
“I know police are working around the clock, I don’t want to put pressure on them because I don’t want them to present a case which is not going to fly before court,” said Gauteng Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Elias Mawela.
A memorial service for Khwinana will be held in Soshanguve on Thursday.
